Requirement: STUDENTS MUST HAVE ALREADY TAKEN INTRO. TO BLACKSMITHING-TEENS
This class is not for the faint of heart! Blacksmithing is a very physical trade and while we will do our best to ensure this is a wonderful experience it is inherently very physical and forging a knife out takes a lot of hammering and these are long days. Don’t shy away though as we’ve had youth and grandparents walk away with beautifully completed knives. Students will begin with a special piece of flat bar metal meant for knifes and learn how to design a knife, forge, shape, and sharpen it with a high powered sander. After the blade is constructed students will take some specially selected wood and construct it into a handle for their custom made knife.
